Founded in Los Angeles in 2014 by Paris-born designer Ahlem Manai-Platt, AHLEM was born from a simple idea: To create eyewear that combines beauty, function, and longevity. The brand started with nine handmade frames in premium, plant-based Italian acetate. AHLEM quickly stood out with its organic shapes and elegant designs. Today, AHLEM has boutiques in Paris, New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, continuing its legacy of timeless and sophisticated eyewear.
AHLEM’s designs reflect a perfectionist’s attention to detail, drawing inspiration from the early 20th-century Bauhaus movement. The result? Eyewear that balances minimalist elegance with practical beauty. AHLEM’s frames also take inspiration from the architectural brilliance of Tadao Ando, channeling simplicity, light, and substance. Rooted in Ahlem’s Parisian background, each frame is named after iconic buildings, historic squares, or vibrant neighbourhoods in the city, further grounding the collection in a timeless sense of place.
Every AHLEM frame is handmade in France with precision and care at every stage of production. The brand works with five specialised ateliers, each bringing their own heritage craftsmanship to the creation of every frame. Whether it’s acetate, metal, or titanium, AHLEM uses only the finest materials. The acetate collection features custom, hand-polished frames, while the metal collection includes frames with exquisite electro-dipping and hand-hammered finishes. AHLEM’s titanium frames, made in Fukui, Japan, are ultra-light and durable, offering a sleek and elegant aesthetic.
