Join Lynne and Geoff Parker, owners of Parker & Co, as they embark on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to India filled with cultural immersion and unforgettable moments; from five days of wedding festivities, to finding the best Indian street snacks and exploring historical landmarks.
The trip began in Delhi. Welcomed by friends, they were led on a food tour through the vibrant streets, tasting some of the best Indian snacks, riding in a rickshaw through the spice market, and ended the day with fresh juice—a perfect introduction to the city's culinary delights.
The next day was dedicated to exploring Delhi's historical landmarks, including Humayun's Tomb, the Red Fort and Qutub Minar. They wrapped up the day with a mesmerising water show at Swaminarayan Akshardham, which left them in absolute awe of India's rich cultural heritage.
From Delhi, Lynne and Geoff made their way to Amritsar for the wedding celebrations. For five days, they immersed themselves in the festivities, from vibrant dances to the stunning traditional attire worn during the ceremonies. They ended their stay in Amritsar with a visit to the serene yet impressive Golden Temple which is a must-see for anyone visiting the area.
Back in Delhi, they stayed at the charming Haveli Dharampura, a UNESCO heritage hotel in Old Delhi. The rooftop kite flying, delicious food, and traditional courtyard rooms made their stay all-the-more memorable.
Their journey continued with a tour of Agra and Jaipur. Witnessing the sunrise at the Taj Mahal was a breathtaking experience, followed by a visit to Agra Fort, where their guide's insights brought the history to life. In Jaipur, they explored Jaigarh Fort, Amber Palace, and Jal Mahal and got lost in the bustling bazaars before enjoying a delicious meal at Johdi restaurant.
Reflecting on their trip, Lynne and Geoff summarise this incredible tour of India as one featuring thriving cities, rich history, delicious food, and welcoming people. It was a journey that left them with memories to cherish for a lifetime, and a longing to return and explore more of this fascinating country.
